In Nepal’s Federal Democratic Republic, elections to the House of Representatives are not merely a political exercise but a celebration of the people’s sovereign right. As envisioned by the Constitution of Nepal 2015, this House is a common platform of 275 members, reflecting unity in diversity. Within this structure, 165 members are elected through the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, representing geographical constituencies, while 110 members are elected through the Proportional Representation (PR) system, ensuring the inclusive voice of all classes and communities in the mainstream of the state.
The core objective of this electoral process is to connect citizens’ votes with the system of governance. When a citizen casts a vote, they do not merely choose a representative; they directly participate in shaping public policy and the future direction of the nation. A government formed through respect for public mandate and laws that remain accountable to the people represent the true beauty of our democracy, empowering every Nepali to become an architect of the nation’s destiny.
Do you vote or not?

Your single vote is the most powerful instrument of change. In a democracy, remaining silent is equivalent to surrendering your future into the hands of others. Therefore, exercise your right to vote by selecting capable and honest leadership to guide the nation toward prosperity. It is our active participation that keeps democracy alive and strong; today’s wise decision lays the foundation for a progressive and prosperous Nepal tomorrow.
