Devastating Flood Causes Major Damage to Industries and Businesses in Nuwakot

Kathmandu. The devastating flood that occurred on Bhadra 10 in the BhoteKoshi-Trishuli corridor has caused significant physical and economic damage to the industrial, trade, and commercial sectors. The Nuwakot Chamber of Commerce and Industry has informed that approximately one thousand eight hundred small and large industries and businesses in Nuwakot alone have been completely damaged due to the flood.

Flood-affected entrepreneurs have demanded that the government bring immediate relief and rehabilitation programs. In a discussion with former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, they urged for the immediate creation of an environment for resuming business operations. Most of the industries and businesses damaged by the flood were operating on bank loans, putting the entrepreneurs in further trouble.
