Flood Death Toll Reaches 1,367 in Rasuwa and Affected Areas

Kathmandu. The human toll from the Rasuwa flood and affected areas has reached 1,367. According to an update on search, rescue, and relief published by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs at 11 AM on Wednesday, a total of 1,367 people have died from various districts. According to the authority, the highest number of bodies were found in Chitwan. 363 bodies were found in Chitwan, 197 in Nuwakot, 174 in Rasuwa, 222 in Nawalparasi West, 226 in Nawalparasi East, 75 in Gorkha, 70 in Dhading, and 38 in Tanahu. It is mentioned that two people who were undergoing treatment in Kathmandu also died. The authority stated that so far, 102 bodies have been identified and handed over to their relatives. For bodies awaiting identification, arrangements have been made to provide samples along with two photos and proof of kinship at the concerned District Police Office. It has been reported that approximately 5,132 people are still missing due to floods and disasters. 2,860 people are missing from Rasuwa alone. Among them, 1,393 are from Rasuwa district, 1,286 from other districts, 45 from the Nepali Army, 25 from Nepal Police, 12 from the Armed Police Force, 73 government employees, and 26 employees from banks and financial institutions. The authority stated that 1,787 people are missing from Nuwakot. Among them, 651 are from Nuwakot and 1,136 are from districts other than Rasuwa. Similarly, the report mentions that approximately 587 foreign tourists are also missing. The authority stated that the number of identified bodies has been subtracted from the number of missing persons. A total of 13,646 people have been rescued from the disaster-affected areas so far. 21,185 personnel from the security forces have been mobilized for rescue and relief operations. 7,975 personnel from Nepal Police, 9,007 from the Nepali Army, and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force are engaged in rescue and relief operations. 3,628 people have been housed in 37 different holding centers. Among them, 733 are in Rasuwa, 2,699 in Nuwakot, and 196 in Dhading. 329 people have been treated in 10 different hospitals. 252 people have been discharged after treatment. Similarly, the authority stated that the Nepali Army has provided treatment services to 3,535 people and the Armed Police Force to 3,287 people.
