MP Ashish Gajurel Urges Government to Expedite Budget Implementation from New Fiscal Year

Kathmandu. National Independent Party (RSP) MP Ashish Gajurel has demanded that the government show promptness in the implementation of the budget and programs from the first day of the new fiscal year. Speaking in Thursday's House of Representatives meeting, MP Gajurel stated that since the budget and programs have already been passed by the House, the government's full attention should now be focused on effective implementation. Mentioning that the new fiscal year is starting from the upcoming July 17, he emphasized that tenders for development projects should be called from the same day. He suggested the government move forward with a clear action plan and expressed concern over the weak state of capital expenditure. He argued that working without a clear plan leads to low capital expenditure at the end of the fiscal year, sending a negative message to the public. Speaking in the meeting, MP Gajurel said, 'From July 17, the pages of the Gorkhapatra should be filled with tenders for development construction; if necessary, even by adding pages, the notices should be published. Only then will it be possible to increase capital expenditure and speed up development plans.' He stressed the need to correct past weaknesses and added, 'If a clear action plan is not made and a report of only 40 percent capital expenditure is presented as in the past, we cannot be accountable to the public.' MP Gajurel has drawn the government's attention to streamline the budget implementation process from the initial days and not to delay development construction work.
