Butwal. Nepali Congress Lumbini Province President Amar Singh Pun has stated that the party's 15th General Convention cannot be postponed under any circumstances. Speaking at the inauguration of the contact office operated by the Nepali Congress Lumbini Province Working Committee in Butwal on Thursday, Pun said that due to legal provisions, the General Convention must be completed by October. He clarified that there is no possibility of postponing the General Convention until November. He stated that the General Convention process cannot be further extended due to the ongoing case in the court. 'If the other party withdraws the case and there is an agreement, the party leadership could have had the leeway to extend it until November. But now that possibility has passed,' Pun said. According to him, the ward convention of the Congress is starting from October 3. He said that the process of the General Convention will move forward along with the ward convention. Pun emphasized the need to resolve the problems seen within the party through dialogue and agreement. He stated that even though there are internal differences, they should be resolved through dialogue and the upcoming General Convention should be moved forward as a convention of unity. He expressed the view that it would be good if General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa could be made the president unanimously for the party's upcoming leadership, and if there is a situation of competition, an environment should be created to bring him to leadership through election. 'Whether Gagan Kumar Thapa is made unanimous or brought to leadership through competition, we must create an environment to make him the president,' Pun said. President Pun also instructed the party's leaders and cadres to prepare for the upcoming General Convention to be held with joy, enthusiasm, and unity. Central member of Congress Bharat Shah said at the program that the party needs to be made more dynamic not only at the center but also at the district, regional, and local levels. Central members Radheshyam Pathak, Rajendragopal Shrestha, Rambahadur Karki, Lumbini Province Assembly member Nima Giri, and Nepali Congress Rupandehi President Ramkrishna Khanal among others expressed their views at the program.
