August 2026 Hottest Month on Record Globally

Kathmandu. The world's temperature has been rising in recent years. Due to climate change caused by human activities and the influence of the powerful El Niño, August 2026 has become one of the hottest months in the world. According to the European climate service 'Copernicus', the average temperature of the Earth in August has surpassed previous global records.

According to Copernicus, the average global surface temperature reached 16.96 degrees Celsius (62.53 degrees Fahrenheit) in August. This is about 0.01 degrees Celsius higher than the previous global average temperature recorded in July 2023. Given the margin of error in temperature measurement, scientists consider both months practically equivalent as the hottest.
