MP Jhakri Criticizes Government's Ineffective Coordination and Social Media Focus

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) MP Ram Kumari Jhakri has stated that the federal government's partisan approach towards local and provincial governments has hindered effective coordination. Speaking in the National Assembly meeting on Thursday, she said that after the Bhote Koshi flood in Rasuwa, the government should not be limited to social media but should work visibly in disaster management. She emphasized the need for effective work in search and rescue, relief, and reconstruction. She expressed objection to the government spreading misinformation among citizens through social media. Speaking on a different note, she questioned who would take responsibility for the destruction on Bhadra 24 last year. She also drew the government's attention to taking action against the criminals who hijacked the Genji movement, put the national flag on their shoulders, and burned the country. Commenting on the government's working style, MP Jhakri said, 'The government is active on social media. AI builds bridges, and AI has already built the road at Krishnabhir. Content creators are making them.' Urging the government to engage directly in work, she added, 'The government cannot run just by managing social media. Learning from all these things, the government must now engage in visible work. After search and rescue, relief and reconstruction work also remain.' Speaking about the emotions of the families of the missing and deceased, she said, 'Now it is time for the government to make the DNA test public and hand over the bodies, even if they are not identified. For the government, death is just a number, but for their loved ones, they are dear ones.' Pointing out the lack of coordination between levels of government, she said, 'Today, local and provincial governments are doing a lot of work, but the government is not coordinating. There should be coordination between governments, without looking at parties. Parties should not be considered in disasters, but here a lack of coordination is seen.' She reiterated that the government has failed to coordinate with political parties as well as provincial and local governments.
