Hindus Observe Kusha Jaupanra and Pitri Samman Diwas

Kathmandu. Today, followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma are celebrating Kusha Jaupanra by bringing the sacred Kush grass, used throughout the year for divine and ancestral rites, into their homes.

This festival is celebrated every year on the new moon day of Bhadra Krishna. According to scriptural methods, keeping the Kush grass, worshipped and uprooted by Brahmins and delivered to the patrons, in the house is believed to bring welfare to the family. According to the scriptural belief, Kush uprooted today can be used throughout the year, while Kush uprooted on other days can only be used on that particular day, informed Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai to RSS.
