Health Minister Orders Probe into Woman Giving Birth on Sidewalk

Kathmandu. Health Minister Nisha Mehta has informed that an investigation team has been formed and dispatched to investigate the incident where a local woman gave birth on the footpath after Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital in Rajbiraj refused to admit her.

Speaking at a meeting of the Education Committee under the House of Representatives held at Singh Durbar on Friday, Minister Mehta informed that a 5-member 'Ethical Committee' led by the Registrar of the Nepal Medical Council and a joint team including Dr. Pawan Rayamajhi, head of the 11th level Curative Division of the ministry, were formed immediately after the incident became public.
