Government Appoints 63 Officials in Five Months

Kathmandu. In a period of just about 5 months, 63 people have been appointed to various ministries, commissions, authorities, boards, and institutions by the Council of Ministers. From the formation of the government led by Balen Shah on Chaitra 13, 2082 BS, until Bhadra 3, 2083 BS, the government has appointed a total of 63 officials and advisors through 43 different decisions. In response to a query sought by Member of Parliament Sita Thapaliya, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has provided the official details of appointments made by the Council of Ministers' decision. According to the verified details, the government has made appointments from the Prime Minister's Secretariat to regulatory bodies, financial institutions, public institutions, and development committees. The details do not include appointments made after Bhadra 3. The government has appointed Kumar Byanjankar as the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor, Asim Shah as Political Advisor, Sudeep Dhakal as Policy Administration and Good Governance Advisor, Vivek Mishra as Information and Communication Technology Advisor, and Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agarwal as Honorary Health Advisor. Similarly, Dr. Gunakar Bhatta has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission and six other members have been appointed, while Kiran Pandit and Dirgha Bahadur Rawal have been given the responsibility as Deputy Governors of Nepal Rastra Bank. The government has also selected new leadership in important economic and regulatory sectors. These include Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta as Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal, Yangki Ukyaab as Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board, Arjun Ghimire as Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Mukesh Dangol as Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, and Dr. Ramprasad Dhital as Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission along with three members. Furthermore, appointments of executive heads have been completed in major public institutions such as the Citizen Investment Trust, Employees Provident Fund, Nepal Oil Corporation, Nepal Airlines Corporation, Security Printing Center, and Nepal Railway Company. During this period, officials have also been appointed to the Press Council, Gorkhapatra Sansthan, University Grants Commission, Medical Education Commission, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center, as well as various health councils and development committees.
