Yambuddha Skateboard Park Construction Nears Completion

Kathmandu. The construction of the Yambuddha Skateboard Park, initiated when Prime Minister Balen Shah was the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and after a long wait and struggle, is nearing its final stage in the capital. The park, which was prioritized from the beginning, was stalled due to the inability to acquire land, but is now in the final phase of construction. 'Initially, there was a plan to construct it in Ward 16, but after the death of the then Ward Chairman Mukunda Rizal, the plan was postponed due to the inability to acquire land. Finally, with the initiative of Ward Chairman Birendra Prajapati of Kathmandu-5 and the local community, the park construction work started on Jestha 29, 2081, by protecting 13 ropanis of government land. The park includes major structures such as an international-level skateboarding area (including ramps, bowls, and streets), a children's playground, an open gym, a toilet block, and a volleyball court. The Metropolitan City has stated that this project has been undertaken to express the culture of the youth, promote art and music, and as a family-friendly community space.
