Kalika Municipality Distributes Smart Card Driving Licenses

Chitwan. Kalika Municipality has started distributing 'Smart Card' driving licenses from its own office. The municipality has arranged to distribute driving licenses from its own building in collaboration with the Transport Management Office, Bharatpur, said Mayor Binod Regmi. The distribution of driving licenses (smart cards) printed by the Department of Transport Management has now started through the municipality. He said that the compulsion for Kalika city dwellers to come to Bharatpur to get a smart card license has now ended. He said that the municipality's goal is to end the situation where city dwellers have to go to the district headquarters Bharatpur to get government services and provide services at the local level. He informed that the smart card driving license distribution service has been started from the municipality as per the agreement with the Transport Management Office. He said, "Our goal is to provide government services from the municipality as much as possible. Services related to land revenue and survey are already being provided from the municipality. Services related to PAN number and labor permit have been expedited. We are also preparing to provide services like taking photos for the national identity card from the municipality." Amrit Adhikari, office chief of the Transport Management Office, Chitwan, said that only the smart card driving license distribution service has been started as per the agreement with Kalika Municipality. He informed that Kalika Municipality is the first in the district to start this type of service in collaboration with local levels. According to him, the smart card driving licenses printed by the Department of Transport Management will be distributed to the concerned service recipients through the municipality. He said this will make it easier for service recipients who have to come to Bharatpur to get smart cards. He informed that the work related to the trial for new driving licenses and category additions from the Transport Management Office is currently suspended. He said that the process required for obtaining and renewing driving licenses can be done online. Forms can be filled and fees can be paid online for obtaining and renewing driving licenses. He said that it is possible to fill the form by scanning the QR code in the National Identity Card and Citizen App.
