'Elephants in the Fog' Explores Marginalized Community's Struggles

The film 'Elephants in the Fog' (Nepali title: Tiniharu), directed by Avinash Bikram Shah, tells the story of the exclusion of sexual minorities, the search for freedom, the struggles of marginalized communities, family responsibilities, and entangled social relationships. It is the story of Priti, a mother from the Kinnar (Queer) community living in Thori in the southern part of Nepal, and her daughter Apsara.

Priti and her daughters from the Kinnar community dance at weddings and other religious ceremonies in the village, blessing the bride and groom. There is an infestation of wild elephants in the village. To prevent elephants from entering the village, villagers take turns patrolling at night and building electrified fences.
