India Secures BRICS Joint Statement Amidst Rival Nations

New Delhi. During the BRICS summit held in New Delhi, India achieved a significant diplomatic success by getting Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which have tense relations with each other, to agree on a joint declaration. According to The Times of India, continuous discussions were held among member states until around 4 AM on Saturday to finalize the joint declaration.

Reaching an agreement was difficult, especially due to the differing priorities of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE regarding West Asian security and regional developments. Iran is under strategic pressure due to Western pressure and its nuclear program, while Saudi Arabia and the UAE have prioritized the security of the Gulf region and their relations with Western countries.
