Kathmandu. With the monsoon becoming active, the Department of Roads has implemented a special preparedness action plan in view of potential disasters on the Nagdhunga-Muglin road section, which falls under the Tribhuvan Rajpath and Prithvi Highway. The plan, named '2083 Monsoon Preparedness Action Plan', has set special strategies to immediately clear the road in case of blockage due to floods and landslides and to guide passengers to use alternative routes.
Currently, about 64 percent of construction has been completed on the Nagdhunga-Naubise (12.2 km) and Naubise-Malekhu (43.5 km) sections, which are under upgrading. However, due to the cutting of slopes during road expansion and the weak geological structure, the Department of Roads, under the Development Assistance Implementation Division, has stated that teams with equipment and manpower are kept ready to prevent passengers from suffering during this year's monsoon.
