Improve Maternity Services

An incident in which a poor Dalit woman was forced to give birth on the roadside in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari, has sparked a nationwide outcry. Both the government and the administration of the concerned hospital have faced criticism over the matter. The incident unfolded when Babita Kumari Paswan, a resident of Parsahi tole in Rajbiraj Municipality, arrived at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj early Thursday morning for delivery. However, the hospital reportedly refused to admit her due to her inability to pay for the service. Consequently, the pregnant woman gave birth on the pavement just outside the hospital gate.
