Nepal Government's Focus On Climate Justice

Climate justice rests on a principle: countries that have contributed most to greenhouse gas accumulation should bear a greater share of the burden of addressing climate change. For Nepal, this offers a diplomatic opportunity—but only if it matches its moral appeal with institutional capacity and measurable action. First, climate justice strengthens Nepal’s case for adaptation finance and loss-and-damage support. Second, it helps internationalise the vulnerability of the Himalayas as a global concern. Third, it allows Nepal to link climate policy with resilient infrastructure, hydropower, agriculture, water security and disaster preparedness.
