Bhotekoshi floods: Damages to 18 schools; Rs 4.23 billion estimated for recovery

Kathmandu, Sept 13: Total 18 schools from Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts received damages in the Bhotekoshi flash floods occurred on August 26. Among these, 11 schools are destroyed, recording the loss of Rs 937 million.

The rapid damage and needs assessment (RDNA) report prepared by the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) showed such amount of damages incurred to schools. Total 56 buildings of 18 schools were affected. As many as 152 rooms received partial damages and 156 rooms met destruction.
