Neelam Kothari Clarifies Rumors About Relationship With Govinda

Mumbai. Actress Neelam Kothari has recently clarified the old rumors about her relationship with Govinda. She stated that she was very young when those rumors were circulating and was unaware that Govinda was already married. Neelam revealed these details during an interview with Times Now. Neelam and Govinda worked together in many films in the 80s and early 90s. Following this, discussions about their relationship continued for years. When asked in the interview if Govinda loved her off-screen, Neelam said, 'I don't know. Firstly, I was very young at that time. Now I have come to know that perhaps he was already married at that time.' Her husband, Sameer Soni, who was present with her, said that Govinda is a very good person. Sameer mentioned that whenever he met him, Govinda greeted him with great warmth. Sameer added, 'If I don't know about something that might have happened 20 years ago or not, how can I dwell on it?' Neelam stated that forming a relationship with anyone at that time was never an option for her. Her entire focus was on learning Hindi and acting. She recalled that due to her young age, a family member would always accompany her during shoots. Neelam mentioned that everyone on set loved her a lot and her co-stars treated her like a child. According to Sameer Soni, Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt were even more vigilant about Neelam's safety. The pair of Neelam and Govinda gave many superhit films in the 80s and 90s. Audiences greatly appreciated their chemistry on screen. The pair's journey began with 'Love 86', released on February 14, 1986, which was also Govinda's debut film. Two weeks later, on February 28, their other film 'Ilzaam' was released. The songs and Govinda's dance in this film gave him overnight recognition. After that, they worked together in films like 'Khuddgarz', 'Sindoor', 'Hatya', 'Do Qaidi', and 'Farz Ki Jung'. Born in Hong Kong, Neelam's father was Gujarati Jain and her mother was Parsi. She debuted in the film 'Jawani' (1984) at the age of 15 after meeting film director Ramesh Behl while visiting Mumbai on vacation.
