Relocate Flood Victims

The Bhotekoshi flash flood has caused massive losses to the country, affecting people across five districts: Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan. More than 1,300 people lost their lives, and their families have lost their relatives, houses, and immeasurable wealth. Taking their miserable conditions into account, the government has decided to provide a monthly compensation of Rs. 15,000 to flash flood victim families to help cover house rent and other essential expenses. During its meeting on Thursday, the Cabinet decided that families with up to four members will receive Rs. 15,000 monthly. If an affected family has more than four members, it is assured that an extra Rs. 2,000 will be provided for each additional member. For families that prefer not to receive this financial assistance, the government has offered the option of arranging temporary housing until their permanent residences are built.
