Kathmandu. The construction process of the second section (Kalki-Basundhara) of the Kathmandu Ring Road expansion, which has been in uncertainty for a long time, has not yet physically started.

An agreement-letter regarding grant assistance was signed between the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Sunil Lamsal, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Mao, on April 16, 2083. According to the agreement, the Chinese government will provide approximately 11 billion rupees in grant for the construction of the 8.2 km road and bridges from Kalki to Basundhara. However, even though the agreement has been made and the preliminary design has been approved, the expansion will only happen after the monsoon.
