London. Doctors have successfully removed a patient's tumor by performing brain surgery with the direct help of AI. This is the first time in the world that AI has been directly assisted to remove a brain tumor. Doctors at University College London Hospital in Britain said that if the surgery had not been done in time, the patient could have lost their sight.
Rice Hibbert, a 48-year-old father of two, had an 11-millimeter non-cancerous tumor in his pituitary gland. The tumor was very close to the important carotid artery that supplies blood to the brain and the optic nerve that controls vision. As the tumor began to put pressure on the optic nerve, Hibbert's peripheral vision, his ability to see to the side, was weakening.
