Communist Party Objects to Prime Minister's Statement on India-Nepal Border

Kathmandu. The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has objected to the statement made by Prime Minister Balen Shah in the House of Representatives regarding the Nepal-India border. Issuing a press release on Monday, the CPN stated that the Prime Minister had made an irresponsible statement contrary to national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Land encroachment on international borders and the use or exchange of land in border areas are two different issues. Encroachment is defined as any country illegally occupying, constructing structures, or expanding borders into the territory of another country without mutual agreement or legal right. To distort the historical fact of India's unilateral encroachment in areas like Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura of Nepal and say that Nepal has also occupied Indian land is a serious act of treason,” the statement read.
