Kathmandu. Former Chairman of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Rajendra Mall, has stated that there is no alternative to strengthening electrical infrastructure for the sustainable development of the country. Speaking at a program organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (NEFEJ) on 'Challenges of Electrical Infrastructure Construction and the Way Forward', he highlighted the need for a concrete policy to utilize Nepal's hydropower potential. Mall emphasized the need to implement the concept of 'Nepal's Water, People's Investment' through a public-private partnership (PPP) model in Nepal, which has a potential of approximately 83,000 megawatts of hydropower. He stated that the tendency to keep 'rivers in bags' in the hydropower sector should be ended and actual producers should be encouraged.
