This mountain is called the eldest mountain because it was the first human footstep on a mountain higher than eight thousand meters. Three years after the team of France's Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal summited Annapurna on June 3, 1950, the world's highest peak, Sagarmatha, was successfully climbed.< p>
