Elephant tusks stolen from the President’s Office

Two elephant tusks that were displayed on the walls of Sheetal Niwas , the President’s Office, have been found to have been stolen. Police have arrested several individuals in connection with the investigation.

The theft took place during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9, 2025, when the President’s Office, normally under 24-hour Nepal Army security, was also targeted. During the demonstrations, protesters vandalised and set fire to the presidential residence. The chair used by the President, photographs hung on the walls, and other items were burned and smashed. It was during this chaos that the two elephant tusks, which had been mounted on the walls as decorative pieces, were stolen.
