Microfinance Victims Continue Protest in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Microfinance victims have continued their protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu (second day) today. Their demands include publicizing past reports related to microfinance and implementing them, ending financial exploitation of borrowers by microfinance, banks, and financial institutions, prohibiting exorbitant and compound interest, and abolishing fines and various charges collected under different headings. They also demand judicial resolution of auctioning land as collateral, blacklisting, and unjust loan recovery from the government. They had protested at Baluwatar yesterday, Tuesday. They were stopped by the police while heading towards Nepal Rastra Bank, and then they sat on a protest on the road.
