Kathmandu Metropolitan City Begins Work to Solve Maitighar Flooding

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started preparations to solve the perennial severe flooding and drainage problem in the Maitighar area. The Metropolitan City has started the work of cleaning and opening the drain from Maitighar towards the Army Headquarters. In this process, the drain flowing from there has been cleared with a dozer.

A recent study had concluded that the flooding in Maitighar is a combined result of technical errors, unplanned urbanization, and structural encroachment. A four-member joint technical team formed under the coordination of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority had submitted its report after an on-site inspection on July 22.
