Cooperative Federation Warns Against New Law Without Consultation

Kathmandu. National Cooperative Federation Vice-Chairman DB Basnet has warned that bringing a new cooperative law without adequate consultation and coordination with the cooperative sector will not be acceptable. He said this while speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of Bagmati Province Savings and Credit Cooperative Union (Bagmati Proskun).

Basnet expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the government did not consult with stakeholders before issuing the ordinance related to cooperatives. He informed that he met the Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation and objected to the ordinance. He claimed that when he questioned the lack of consultation with the cooperative campaign before issuing the ordinance, the ministry officials replied that they too were not informed in advance.
