Nepal Women's Kabaddi Team to Train in India for Asian Games

Kathmandu. The Nepali women's kabaddi team, a bronze medalist in the Asian Games, will prepare for the 20th Asian Games in India. The Nepali team will train for one month at the Vibrant International School and Kabaddi Academy in Haryana, India. The men's kabaddi team for the Asian Games is also training in India. The Nepali team will depart for India on Thursday. The team will continue its training and play practice matches in Jaipur and Uttar Pradesh, India. The team is scheduled to depart from India for the Asian Games in Japan on Assoj 2. The Asian Games will begin on Assoj 3. The women's team includes Manmati Bisht (captain), Jayanti Badu, Ravina Chaudhary, Menuka Rajwanshi, Mina Nepali, Khimmaya Khatri, Ganga Ghimire, Sirjana Kumari Tharu, Nanumaya Parajuli, Binita Pandit Chhetri, and Asma Yadav. For Khimmaya, the 20th Asian Games will be her first international competition. Another team member, Anuja Kulung Rai, will not be able to participate in the competition due to technical reasons (medical). The General Secretary of the All Nepal Kabaddi Association, Arvind Kumar Jha, stated that a decision on which player will replace her will be made soon. Parvati Rai is the head coach, Lok Bahadur Bisht is the coach, and Sharad Darshandhari is the manager. Eight countries will participate in women's kabaddi. Nepal, in Group 'B', will play against Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei. Taipei is the runner-up team from the previous edition. In the final, Taipei was defeated by India by a total of 1 point. Iran, Japan, Bangladesh, and India are in Group 'A'. This is the second participation of the Nepali women's team in the Asian Games. The team participated for the first time in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, and won the historic bronze medal. Six players from the Hangzhou Asian Games medal-winning team, including Manmati, Jayanti, Ravina, Menuka, Ganga, and Sirjana, are included in the current team. Parvati was also the head coach in the Hangzhou Asian Games. The women's kabaddi team has also won bronze medals in the Asian Kabaddi Championship held in Iran and the Asian Beach Games held in China. The team was bid farewell by National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta, Kabaddi Association President Tulsi Thapa, General Secretary Jha, and National Team Preparation Director Deepak Bisht at a program on Wednesday. Speaking at the farewell program, Member Secretary Mehta expressed high hopes for a medal from the team.
