Nursing activist Jyoti Ranabhat begins indefinite hunger strike

Kathmandu. Nursing activist Jyoti Ranabhat is starting an indefinite hunger strike from today (Thursday). She is starting the hunger strike from 3 PM on the premises of the Nursing Council, stating that the government is not serious about strengthening nursing and midwifery services, patient safety, and policy reforms.
She has also drawn the attention of the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene with various 15-point demands. Nursing activist Ranabhat has put forward demands for the immediate implementation of basic issues such as minimum wages, ending contract/temporary employment, creation of positions, and improvement of the quality of study and teaching. She states that due to discriminatory legal provisions, low service facilities, and lack of a safe working environment, the trend of skilled manpower migrating abroad is increasing, affecting the country's overall health system.
