For a growing number of youth, that dream has ended behind the locked gates of scam compounds in Cambodia, Myanmar and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Their passports and phones are confiscated, and they are forced to work long hours carrying out online fraud. Those who resist reportedly face threats, violence, starvation and torture.
