Law Student Alleges Illegal Detention, Torture During Indian Student Protests

New Delhi. 24-year-old law student Mohammad Junaid, who was actively involved in a major student protest in India recently, has alleged that the police illegally detained him and subjected him to mental torture. Junaid, born into a farmer family in Ghaziabad in North India, has announced that he will continue his fight for justice and has even filed a case in India's Supreme Court.
For Junaid, the son of illiterate parents, 'ilm' or knowledge is the greatest asset, as mentioned in a BBC report. To protect the sanctity of that education, he plunged into the protest initiated by the 'Cockroach Janata Party' against alleged irregularities in the medical education entrance exam. He initially went to the protest that began at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in June for just one day, but seeing the need and the suffering of the students there, he stayed for 6 weeks, playing the role of a volunteer.
