Nepal Tourism Department Coordinates Rescue Efforts in Pakistan, Six Sherpas Missing

Kathmandu. The Department of Tourism of Nepal has issued a notice directing the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad to coordinate with the Pakistani government in the rescue efforts. The Department of Tourism has stated that although reports of several bodies being found on Broad Peak have been made public, it has not confirmed the death of any climber. The department still lists six Nepali individuals participating in the expedition as 'missing'. According to the department, Nepali mountaineering companies working in various mountain regions of Pakistan are preparing to go to the scene. They will coordinate with local authorities and assist in search and rescue operations. Department of Tourism spokesperson Himal Gautam said, 'There is a significant presence of Nepali Sherpas and mountaineering expedition operating companies there, and they are coordinating among themselves.' 'This is an unimaginable incident,' Gautam said, 'but as there is some conflicting information coming in, there is still a small hope.'
