Discontent Over Three-Point Agreement Creates Hurdles in Provincial Government Formation

Kathmandu. Problems have arisen in the formation of provincial governments due to growing dissatisfaction in both parties regarding the three-point agreement between the CPN UML and the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN). Dissatisfaction has increased in both parties, alleging that UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' have reached a consensus focused on power interests without a serious review of past shortcomings.
According to the agreement reached on Shrawan 9, UML was to lead the governments of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, and the CPN was to lead the governments of Sudurpashchim and Karnali provinces. Similarly, it was agreed to consult with other parties regarding the formation of governments in Madhesh and Gandaki provinces.
