Gagan Thapa Calls for Politics Beyond Power and Authority, Emphasizing Public Service

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that politics should be taken out of the narrow confines of power and authority and made a primary means of public service. Speaking at a program organized at the party's central office on Saturday, he expressed concern over the growing attachment to positions and power in politics.

Inaugurating the 'Disaster Preparedness and Response Training' program organized by the Nepali Congress Central Policy, Research and Training Institute, President Thapa defined politics as the biggest field of public and human service. He said it is a matter of sorrow that politics has reached a stage where it is done only for the sake of gaining power, when power and authority should be used as a means for citizen service and human service.
