Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and National Assembly member Ranjit Karna has stated that the country will suffer great political and economic damage if the Congress becomes weak or divided. Speaking at a press conference organized by 'Desh ra Congress Jodne Abhiyan' in Kathmandu on Sunday, he mentioned that history is a witness and emphasized the need for internal strengthening of the Congress. Leader Karna expressed objection to the working style of the government and administration regarding the recent incident in Devangunj, Sunsari. He stated that the accident occurred because the District Administration, Police, and Home Ministry did not take the problem, which had been apparent for the past month, seriously in time. He noted that although the current government, with the support of nearly two-thirds majority, had high public expectations, it is ironic that it resorted to firing. He stressed the importance of maintaining religious tolerance in the country and called for an immediate solution to the current problem. He stated that in the current situation, all citizens should unite to save the country without politicizing any issue. He said, 'Everyone knows this, history is a witness. Whenever the Congress, for any reason, whether due to internal factionalism or ideological differences, became weak or divided, the country has suffered great political and economic accidents. We also had high expectations from the current government which has the support of nearly two-thirds majority. Our brothers and sisters lost their lives during the people's movement. We believed that a government formed from that sacrifice and inspiration would not fire on the people. But today, it is ironic that this very government has resorted to firing.' Leader Karna stated that the Nepali Congress must now reform and change, learning from past mistakes. Mentioning that the youth have a great responsibility on their shoulders, he expressed confidence that only unity and strengthening within the party can move the country forward.
