GANDAKI REGION TEMPERATURE RISE DOUBLES IN HIGH HIMALAYAS

While the maximum temperature in the Terai region is increasing at a rate of 0.036 degrees Celsius annually during the monsoon, this rate of increase has doubled to 0.072 degrees Celsius annually in the high Himalayan region. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the highest annual maximum temperature increase has been observed in the Himalayan districts among the eleven districts of Gandaki Province. In Manang, the maximum temperature is increasing at a rate of 0.092 degrees Celsius annually, the highest in the province. In Mustang, the maximum temperature is increasing at a rate of 0.08 degrees Celsius annually.

Another new trend has been observed in the study of the high Himalayan region. While the temperature is increasing during the daytime, the cold is further increasing during the nighttime. In Jomsom, Mustang, the minimum temperature is decreasing at a rate of 0.58 degrees Celsius per decade. Similarly, the department's data shows that the minimum temperature in Chame, Manang, is decreasing at a rate of 0.12 degrees Celsius annually.
