Woman Arrested for Practicing Medicine Illegally

Kathmandu. Chetana A.M. (Poudel) was arrested by the Police Headquarters Central Investigation Bureau for illegally practicing medicine. The main reason for Poudel's arrest is the use of a medical degree that she does not have, according to a police statement. CIB arrested Poudel from Chandragiri Municipality-8 on Asar 10, and concerned organizations protested. Poudel is accused of being involved in modern medical diagnosis and treatment of patients without obtaining a registration certificate from the Nepal Medical Council, and was found with prescriptions recommending medicine to patients. The police arrested her after receiving a complaint with an investigation report from the Nepal Medical Council, Basundhara, stating that Dr. Poudel was found with prescriptions recommending medicine to patients at Spark International Health Resort, which is regularly monitored by the Nepal Medical Council, Basundhara, and requested necessary action according to prevailing laws.
