Nurses Protest at Bir Hospital Demanding Government Action

Kathmandu. Nurses protested in front of Bir Hospital today, Monday, stating that the government is not serious about the issues of nurses and is not focused on solving problems policy-wise. They protested with placards, saying the government is a mute spectator even when nurses are exploited. The protest was held with placards demanding quality nursing education, patient safety assurance, and respectable service facilities from nurses at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Bir Hospital. This is the fifth day of Rana Bhat's hunger strike. The Nepal Medical Association has demanded the protection of the life of Rana Bhat, who is on a hunger strike. Issuing a statement today, Monday, the association demanded that the government address Rana Bhat's legitimate demands. Rana Bhat is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of Bir Hospital. Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta had said that she is working to resolve the issues of Rana Bhat through dialogue. The protesting nurses are seeking a long-term solution to the problems of nurses with implementation and assurance.
