Man Loses Rs 2.43 Million in Fake Etsy ‘Order Grabbing’ Scam, Case Filed Against Seven

Kathmandu. A Nepali man lost more than Rs 2.43 million after falling victim to an online “order grabbing” scam that fraudulently used the name of international e-commerce platform Etsy, highlighting the growing threat of organized digital fraud in Nepal.

The case came to light after the Office of the Government Attorney filed a fraud case at the Kathmandu District Court based on an investigation conducted by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police. Seven individuals have been named as defendants under the National Penal Code, 2017.
