Prime Minister Balen Shah Oversees Flood and Landslide Response Efforts

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah informed that he returned to Kathmandu after personally observing the condition of flood and landslide affected areas in Nuwakot. He directly gathered information from affected citizens, local representatives, security personnel, health workers, and those involved in rescue and relief efforts. He stated that the situation remains challenging and all state mechanisms are operating at full capacity. The government's top priority is the protection of citizens' lives, search and rescue of the missing, treatment of the injured, and immediate relief to affected families. A total of 13,295 security personnel have been deployed, including 4,200 from the Nepali Army, 7,250 from Nepal Police, and 1,845 from the Armed Police Force, giving high priority to search and rescue operations. Continuous coordination and monitoring are being carried out through the Nepali Army's 'Joint Operation Committee', NDRRMA's 'Quick Action Team', and the Prime Minister's Office's 'Rapid Action Team'. According to the Prime Minister, rescue operations are continuously ongoing via air and land routes. 351 people have been rescued through 69 air sorties. Additional helicopters are on standby, and private helicopters have also been mobilized for rescue and relief under the government's command and coordination system. Priority in air rescue is given to patients, pregnant women, new mothers, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Efforts are underway to relocate citizens and security personnel trapped in affected areas such as Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading to safe locations.
