Supreme Court Petition Demands Structural Reforms in Nepal's Prisons and Detention Centers

Kathmandu. A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding structural reforms, citing the extremely dire and unsafe conditions in Nepal's prisons, police detention centers, and child reform homes.
Advocate Kumar Prasad Thapaliya filed the petition in the Supreme Court on Monday. The petition has made the Government of Nepal, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Prison Management Department, and the Nepal Police Headquarters as respondents.
