National Child Rights Council Urges Schools Not to Forcefully Cut Students' Hair

​Kathmandu. The National Child Rights Council has requested schools not to forcefully cut students' hair. The Council has requested not to cut students' hair by issuing a notice. The Council has clarified that there is a legal provision of a fine of up to fifty thousand rupees and imprisonment for up to one year for those who commit such illegal acts, and according to the Education Regulations, no activity that negatively affects the physical and psychological health of students can be done under any circumstances.

According to the Council, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the Children Act, 2075 BS, considers physical or mental punishment and disrespectful behavior at home or school as child violence and offense.
