Free Health Check-up for Artists Over 60 Begins

Kathmandu. Free health check-ups for artists over 60 years of age have started from Tuesday. The Nepal Senior Citizens Health Center located on the premises of Manmohan Memorial Medical College & Teaching Hospital has provided the service in collaboration with the Artists Association. The health check-up, which started with the special initiative of Dr. Jagdish Kumar Chhetri of the health center, will provide dementia and geriatric health check-up services to film artists above 60 years of age. The program was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Chairman of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC. At the program, DC requested the artists to take advantage of the health opportunities provided by the health center. Dr. Jagdish Kumar Chhetri of the health center said that artists are the pride of the nation, so it is everyone's responsibility to take care of their health, and free check-ups have been arranged. In the program, former president of the Film Artists Association, Rabindra Khadka, and president Uttam KC thanked Dr. Chhetri and the health center for arranging free health check-ups for artists. The program was attended by Artists Association officials Vice President Pujana Pradhan, General Secretary Sunil Katuwal, Secretary Gopal Dhakal, members Labli Sangam Rai, Jeevan Thapa, artist Dawa Finjo Tamang, former secretary Rameshwor Burlakoti, among others. The health check-ups on Tuesday included Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, actor Krishna Malla, actress Sharmila, actors RP Pant, Badri Pudasaini, Kamal Mainali, Jayanta Regmi, Shivahari Bairagi, Raju Shahi, among others. The health check-up service will be in operation until August 14. Chairman KC informed that an official identity card or recommendation letter from the Nepal Film Artists Association is mandatory to avail the service. Also, the organizers have stated that prior appointment must be taken from the health center before going for the check-up. Dr. Jagdish Kumar Chhetri, director of the Nepal Geriatrics Center, established for the first time in Nepal, has brought the center into operation with the objective of providing integrated and quality health services to senior citizens. Having completed his MBBS to PhD studies from China, Dr. Chhetri has gained experience in fellowship, treatment services, and teaching in various hospitals in France and America. He is the only Nepali doctor to have a doctorate in Geriatrics (senior citizen health) so far.
