Karnali Government Faces Multiple Challenges Under New Chief Minister

Surkhet. Karnali Province Assembly, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Parliamentary Party leader Mangal Bahadur Shahi never thought he would become the Chief Minister. He was on his way to make Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi the Chief Minister.

Proposing Congress leader Shahi as Chief Minister, he filed a no-confidence motion against then Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel on Ashad 32. Due to the no-confidence motion brought by the Nepali Communist Party and Congress, Kandel was forced to resign from the post of Chief Minister. While discussions of cooperation between UML and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) were ongoing at the center, in Karnali, the NCP supported the Nepali Congress to form the government.
