Parliamentary Committee Directs Government to Monitor NGOs and Seek Clarification from International Organizations

Kathmandu. The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Federal Parliament has directed the government to make the monitoring of national and international non-governmental organizations operating in Nepal more effective and transparent. The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday directed a micro-evaluation of the implementation status of project agreements in accordance with the Social Welfare Act and prevailing laws.
Committee Chairperson Sumitra BC made public the decision of the meeting, emphasizing the need to make the implementation of projects approved by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the Social Welfare Council more systematic, dignified, and transparent as per the provisions of the Social Welfare Council Act, 2049 and Regulations, 2049. The committee has directed the government to arrange for regular and effective monitoring and evaluation of whether the objectives and tasks specified in the project agreements have been fulfilled.
