Veterinary Official and Driver Charged with Bribery

Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a charge sheet against Dr. Rampavitra Das, the office chief of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center in Rajbiraj, Saptari, and light vehicle driver Bhogendra Yadav at the Special Court, Kathmandu. The team from the Itahari office of the Commission had taken them under control based on a complaint that they had demanded a 20 percent commission from the payment amount to be received by the vaccinators.

During the investigation, it was revealed that office chief Dr. Rampavitra Das, in collusion with driver Bhogendra Yadav, demanded money while disbursing the remuneration that vaccinators should legally receive upon completion of the vaccination program. It has been confirmed that they took a bribe of at least 20 percent, amounting to Rs 132,350, by creating a compulsion that it was not possible without paying it.
