Health Service Department Leadership Vacant for Three Months

Kathmandu. The Health Service Department, considered a crucial place for implementing policies set by the Ministry of Health, has been running with an acting head for the past three months. The department has been without a Director General while there are two additional secretaries at the Ministry of Health. The system has a provision to assign the responsibility of Director General to an additional secretary at the Health Service Department.

Currently, the responsibility of acting Director General of the Health Service Department has been given to Dr. Anuj Bhattachan, Chief of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division. Bhattachan was given the acting responsibility on May 13. Bhattachan is an 11th-level officer. There are two additional secretaries at the Ministry of Health.
