Old Bhatbhateni Arson Video Resurfaces, Sparks Confusion on Social Media

Kathmandu. A video claiming to show vandalism and arson at a Bhatbhateni Supermarket has gone viral on social media in recent days, misleading many users into believing the incident is recent.

The 7-minute, 25-second video was posted on Facebook by a user identified as Dilip Paudel on August 4 with the caption, "What's happening here?" The footage shows thick black smoke rising from a Bhatbhateni Supermarket building, while several people appear to enter the premises and loot goods. The person recording the video can be heard using abusive language and calling those involved in the looting to come outside. Toward the end of the video, a scuffle breaks out among a group of youths before people flee as the fire intensifies.
